2015: I challenged myself to hike and camp solo in Nebraska, on my way to Denver. Western NE has quite a gorgeous flask of daylight pouring out.
2014: Not my home, but this is the area where I grew up. I love the rust and history and survival of farm life. My mother grew and canned vegetables and froze fruits from her 2-acre garden. If there were worms in the corn, we just picked them out and kept eating.
Sometimes you can turn rejection letters into birthday cards! These are the best kinds of rejections.
I like to draw rhinos, especially when I am feeing inadequate.
Sometimes it is hard for me to be in the city for long periods of time.
2014: I thought southern Texas was very rad. We got to the hot springs in Big Bend to discover they were hotter than the 115 degree air temp. We did not go in. The Rio Grand was cocoa colored and rippled. This was a trip that included no swimming, though all we wanted to do was swim.
2012: I used to live in South Dakota, and I worked on a Wild Horse Sanctuary. The buffalo at Wind Cave were my favorite thing to stumble across.
2012: Winter in South Dakota. It was like living on the moon.
